Dating woes part 5

Chatterblog

‘Like’ and ‘Retweet’ buttons removed

Apparently our ‘Facebook like’ and ‘Tweetmeme’ buttons have been spamming some worthless faux pharmacy in Canada since the 13th of August this year. Coincidentally, that was when I went away in Wales for a week.

I cannot locate any code on the site which has been tampered with, nor can I assume the affected plugins have been hacked because it only affects comics dating from the 13th of August onward – not blog posts, not individual pages. Just comics.

I really have no idea what is wrong, so I have removed the plugins until I can find out what has gone wrong and what we can do to see that the spammers involved are prosecuted. This site will not participate in the promotion of scams, especially not ones pushing dodgy medication.

Going daily

Extra! Extra! Read all about it – daily!

From 30 August (i.e. a week on Monday), All over the house is going to start updating Monday to Friday, every week.

I’m working my arse off to get a decent-sized buffer for the comic in order to cope with this new workload but I’m also incredibly excited about it.

It means we’ll be having more short stories of a sort, where we run jokes together to make a quick succession of themed jokes, but we’ll still be doing the same gag-a-day style work we’ve loved doing since we started.

I hope you like getting more of the same. It’s what we want to keep bringing you.

Enjoy! :)

Trialing daily updates

Because we missed a day last week, you’re getting a week of strips this coming week. In other words, we’re trialing All over the house running daily, for one week. I hope you enjoy it. :)

Happy birthday!

On 02 January 2009, All over the house was one year old. It’s amazing to think we’ve made it this far already; and I have to say it has been a fun journey.

In just one year we’ve gone from a set of rather crude, black-and-white jokes put up twice a week with little in the way of movement in most comics, to a more fluid, rounded and above all, coloured, comic that runs three times a week.

It’s really been an amazing ride and I have to say it has been a pleasure to bring these comics to you. Here’s to another year – and hopefully many more after that!

Scanner causing delays

Since the beginning of The Life of Nob T. Mouse in 1996, I have been using a Microtek Phantom 336CX scanner to get the hand-drawn comics onto my computer.  I bought the scanner around 1995 to make producing my first comic, Portly Stoutmaster’s Journeys, much easier.  It has worked flawlessly until a month or two ago, when the drive belt started failing.

I am sorry to say that it has now failed almost completely.  As a consequence, the sketches I have produced for both comics (Nob Mouse and All over the house) cannot be ported onto the computer for inking and colouring.  This is making comic production difficult.

I will get back on track as soon as I can but in the mean time, please forgive the delay; which is totally out of my control right now.

Zoë wins an award

While this does not pertain to All over the house itself, our resident artist and co-writer, Zoë Robinson, won an Editor’s Choice Award at Suite101 yesterday for her article on The Webcomic List Awards, which are running at the moment. You can find the article in question here.

Homeward Bound

This is a first for All over the house: a long-form, multi-part comic. I hope you like it, I really do.  Jenny also hopes you like it, because me drawing this is taking much longer than me drawing a normal comic for the site; so it’s a labour of love and it means she sees me less.  Whether that’s a good or bad thing is open to debate, of course. :)

A preview of the next comic

Today’s comic is taking a long time to produce, because it has a lot of complexities in it; from bookshelves to Derrick to other stuff as well. As a consequence, I’ve fallen behind in its production because I didn’t expect it to take this long. It’s more complex than I had planned, but at the same time I think it’s going to be something you’ll all love. I’m certainly loving it.

By way of saying “sorry, everyone. It’s going to be a few more hours”, here’s a quick peek at one of the frames from the story. There’s no shading or lettering on this because they’re still to be done, but it’s all coloured and it’ll give you an idea of what’s to come.

I’ll post the finished product in a few hours. Enjoy!

We’re back

The comic will pick up where it left off on Tuesday 13 October. Sorry for the delay.  Normal service shall be resumed forthwith.

Delay

The next strip will be late because I’ve been out of the house for most of the last couple of days and I simply haven’t had the time to finish the strip. Expect it on Friday; i.e. today by the time most of you read this.  Sorry.
